Rare earth market update on June 4, 2026
The domestic rare earth market as a whole maintained a sideways trend. With holders lacking sufficient momentum to raise prices and purchasers generally maintaining cautious consumption, product prices fluctuated within reasonable ranges. Market activity was low, and order growth was slow. Today, the prices of praseodymium-neodymium metal, terbium oxide, and holmium oxide were approximately RMB 855,000/ton, RMB 6,050,000/ton, and RMB 535,000/ton, respectively.
According to CTIA GROUP, the reasons why rare earth prices have difficulty rising are mainly as follows: First, the supply of spot circulation in the market is relatively ample, mainly due to the basically stable production and operation of rare earth mining and smelting enterprises and the continuous inflow of scrap recycling materials into the market; second, downstream buyers are resistant to high prices and follow-up demand is weak, coupled with lower market expectations for price increases. As a result, suppliers are primarily focused on stabilizing prices for shipments and accelerating inventory turnover, with a low willingness to voluntarily raise offer prices.
In terms of news, the "Implementation Regulations of the Mineral Resources Law of the People's Republic of China" will take effect on June 15, 2026. The Regulations aim to ensure the effective implementation of the revised Mineral Resources Law, promote the rational development and utilization of mineral resources, strengthen the protection of mineral resources and the ecological environment, promote high-quality development of the mining industry, and ensure the security of mineral resources.
