Rare earth market update on June 18, 2026
This week, the domestic rare earth prices as a whole showed a fluctuating upward trend, but the actual transaction volume still has relatively large room for increase. Against the background of increased downstream demand, strong production cost support, limited increase in spot supply in the market, and optimistic industry expectations for the future market, holders generally had a strong consciousness of holding back sales and firming up prices.
According to statistics from CTIA GROUP, this week, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide increased by about 27,000 RMB/ton, an increase of 3.91%; the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal increased by about 35,000 RMB/ton, an increase of 4.17%; the price of terbium oxide increased by about 270,000 RMB/ton, an increase of 4.35%; the price of dysprosium oxide increased by about 80,000 RMB/ton, an increase of 5.93%; the price of 55N neodymium-iron-boron blank increased by about 4 RMB/kg, an increase of 1.41%; and the price of neodymium-iron-boron scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) increased by about 25 RMB/kg, an increase of 3.42%.
News aspect: Data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in May, the power generation of industrial enterprises above designated size was 784.3 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%, with the growth rate accelerating by 1.6 percentage points compared with April; the average daily power generation was 25.30 billion kWh. By category, the thermal power of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 2.1% year-on-year, with the growth rate slowing down by 1.0 percentage point compared with April; the hydropower of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 13.0%, with the growth rate accelerating by 0.8 percentage point; the nuclear power of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 5.0%, compared with a decrease of 8.7% in April; the wind power of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 0.5%, compared with a decrease of 5.0% in April; and the solar power generation of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 12.1%, with the growth rate accelerating by 5.0 percentage points.
