Molybdenum market update on June 1, 2026
Monday, the domestic molybdenum market maintained overall strong operation. In the case of relatively balanced supply and demand relationship and stable performance of the international molybdenum market, product prices basically fluctuated within a reasonable range, the purchase and sale heat in the market was general, and transactions were limited. Today, the prices of molybdenum concentrate and molybdenum oxide respectively increased slightly to 5,030 RMB per ton-degree and 5,120 RMB per ton-degree, the prices of ferro molybdenum and ammonium heptamolybdate were respectively arranged around 317,000 RMB per ton and 312,000 RMB per ton. Recently, the steel enterprises entering the field for molybdenum iron bidding included Shanxi Xintai Steel, Jiangsu Zhongtian, Chongqing Iron & Steel, Shanxi Taigang, Ansteel Rolling Mill, Rizhao Steel Group, etc.; the bidding price was around 310,000 RMB per ton.
In terms of news, the China Iron and Steel Association data showed that in April 2026, among the key statistical enterprises, the medium and heavy plate rolling mill and cold rolling mill production increased year-on-year, while the hot rolling mill production decreased year-on-year. Among them, the medium and heavy plate rolling mill produced ultra-heavy plate and medium heavy plate totaling 6.36 million tons, an increase of 110,000 tons compared with the previous year, rising by 1.8%; the hot rolling mill produced 15.73 million tons, a decrease of 30,000 tons compared with the previous year, decreasing by 0.2%; the cold rolling mill produced 6.78 million tons, an increase of 130,000 tons compared with the previous year, rising by 2.0%.
