Molybdenum market update on April 27, 2026
On Monday, the domestic molybdenum price remained stable at a high level, mainly attributed to the strong sentiment of molybdenum mining enterprises holding back sales in expectation of rising prices and the relatively positive procurement enthusiasm from downstream users. Today, the prices for molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum, and ammonium heptamolybdate are approximately RMB 4,730/ton-degree, RMB 300,000/ton, and RMB 294,000/ton, respectively. Recently, steel enterprises participating in the bidding for ferromolybdenum include Zhongtian Steel, Shanxi Taigang, Puyang Steel, Deyang Erzhong, Xinxing Ductile Iron, and Zhejiang Dongte, with the bidding price around RMB 295,000/ton. As of now, the total amount of ferromolybdenum tendered in April steel bids is approximately 12,500 tons.
In terms of news, data from the China Iron and Steel Association shows that by mid-April 2026, key steel enterprises produced a total of 21.11 million tons of crude steel, with an average daily output of 2.11 million tons, which increased by 0.4% compared to the previous period. Among the six major regions, except for the Southwest and Central-South regions, where the crude steel daily production of key enterprises decreased compared to the previous period, other regions saw varying degrees of increase. Specifically, the Northeast region's crude steel daily output increased by 8,000 tons, the North China region increased by 2,000 tons, the East China region increased by 3,000 tons, the Northwest region increased by 1,000 tons, the Southwest region decreased by 1,000 tons, and the Central-South region decreased by 5,000 tons.
