Rare earth market update on May 7, 2026
The domestic rare earth market has generally maintained stable operation, with product prices fluctuating within a narrow range and order growth being slow. This is mainly because the May Day holiday has just ended, the negotiation atmosphere between buyers and sellers is somewhat stagnant, and there is no significant news release in the industry. Today, the prices of praseodymium-neodymium oxide, praseodymium-neodymium metal, erbium oxide, and dysprosium-iron alloy are approximately RMB 775,000/ton, RMB 950,000/ton, RMB 425,000/ton, and RMB 1,340,000/ton, respectively.
From the supply side, influenced by stricter environmental protection policies, high energy prices, frequent rainy weather recently, and the lack of significant increase in downstream demand, the capacity release speed of some rare earth mining enterprises has slowed down. In addition, with limited imports of domestic rare earth products, the growth rate of spot supply in the market has further slowed.
From the demand side, affected by the obvious market sentiment of "buy when prices increase, avoid when prices fall" and the financial pressure on downstream rare earth enterprises, short-term market demand is relatively low. However, there is potential for demand to increase later, mainly benefiting from the positive development momentum of industries such as new energy vehicles, robotics, and smart home appliances.
