Rare earth market update on May 9, 2026
After the first week following the May Day holiday, the domestic rare earth market overall performed poorly. The prices of praseodymium-neodymium continued the pre-holiday downward trend, while the prices of dysprosium-terbium remained weakly stable. Traders’ enthusiasm for entering the market was generally moderate, and order growth was slow. This was mainly due to the magnetic materials enterprises’ demand being below expectations and insufficient supportive factors. However, influenced by strong production cost support and favorable development trends in downstream rare earth industries, suppliers’ room for concessions was limited.
According to CTIA GROUP statistics, this week the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide decreased by RMB 15,000/ton, a decrease of 1.94%; praseodymium-neodymium metal decreased by RMB 20,000/ton, a decrease of 2.11%; terbium oxide decreased by RMB 30,000/ton, a decrease of 0.30%; dysprosium oxide decreased by RMB 30,000/ton, a decrease of 2.17%; 55N NdFeB blanks decreased by RMB 6/kg, a decrease of 1.90%; NdFeB scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) decreased by RMB 10/kg, a decrease of 1.31%.
