Rare earth market update on April 15, 2026
The domestic rare earth market remains largely in a sideways trend, with the price of mainstream products stabilizing within a narrow range as there is neither significant news nor major changes in the supply and demand situation. The overall pace of order growth is slow due to the complex and volatile macroeconomic environment and the weak supply and demand dynamics. Today, the prices for praseodymium neodymium oxide, gadolinium oxide, and erbium oxide are approximately RMB 765,000/ton, RMB 250,000/ton, and RMB 405,000/ton, respectively.
From the supply side, the production pace of some rare earth mining companies has slowed due to factors such as high energy prices, intensified environmental enforcement, and declining ore grade. However, due to the continued weak downstream demand, the spot supply of some market products is slightly more relaxed. From the demand side, the market sentiment of "buying on the rise, not on the fall" is evident, and downstream companies are facing tight funds. Combined with the significant external geopolitical risks, downstream demand remains relatively rigid, with a strong wait-and-see sentiment, leading to a lower actual transaction volume.
In terms of news, in 2025, Northern Rare Earth achieved revenue of RMB 42.563 billion, an increase of 29.11% year-on-year; net profit attributable to the parent company reached RMB 2.251 billion, an increase of 124.17% year-on-year; the non-recurring profit was RMB 2.056 billion, an increase of 128.10% year-on-year; basic earnings per share was RMB 0.62, an increase of 124.17% year-on-year; at the end of the reporting period, total assets were RMB 48.128 billion, an increase of 6.05% year-on-year.
