Molybdenum market update on April 13, 2026
On Monday, the domestic molybdenum prices remained stable at a high level, mainly due to the high selling reluctance from suppliers and the strong purchasing enthusiasm from downstream users. Today, the prices of molybdenum concentrate, molybdenum ferros, and molybdenum oxide are approximately RMB 4,540/ton-degree, RMB 291,000/ton, and RMB 4,640/ton-degree, respectively. Recently, steel companies bidding for molybdenum ferros include Zhongnan Steel, Xinxing Casting, Baosteel (Baoshan), Lingyuan Steel, and Deyang Erzhong, with the bidding prices around RMB 288,000/ton.
In terms of news, data from the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) shows that in late March 2026, the steel inventory of key statistical steel enterprises was 16.55 million tons, a decrease of 1.36 million tons (-7.6%) compared to the previous period; it increased by 2.41 million tons (+17.0%) compared to the beginning of the year; it decreased by 790,000 tons (-4.6%) compared to the same period last month; it increased by 1.32 million tons (+8.7%) compared to the same period last year; and it decreased by 1.88 million tons (-10.2%) compared to the same period two years ago. Regionally, the steel inventory in Northeast China decreased by 490,000 tons, the steel inventory in North China decreased by 210,000 tons, the steel inventory in East China decreased by 420,000 tons, the steel inventory in Southwest China decreased by 30,000 tons, the steel inventory in Central South China decreased by 260,000 tons, and the steel inventory in Northwest China increased by 50,000 tons.
