Rare earth market update on April 10, 2026
This week, the prices of domestic mainstream light and heavy rare earth products showed slight divergence: praseodymium-neodymium prices first surged and then slightly decreased, while dysprosium-terbium prices consolidated within a narrow range. At the beginning of the week, due to strong support from production costs and the willingness of many magnetic material enterprises to make purchases, praseodymium-neodymium prices continued the upward momentum from last week. However, as the end of the week approached, the upward driving force for praseodymium-neodymium prices weakened due to increased resistance from downstream users to high-priced sources.
In the middle and heavy rare earth markets, with suppliers showing low willingness to lower prices for sales and buyers mainly sticking to just-needed purchases, the market continued to run weak and steady.
According to CTIA GROUP LTD statistics, this week, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide increased by RMB 32,000/ton, up by 4.40%; the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal increased by RMB 30,000/ton, up by 3.35%; the price of terbium oxide showed no significant change; the price of dysprosium oxide increased by RMB 40,000/ton, up by 2.99%; the price of 55N neodymium-iron-boron billets increased by RMB 1/kg, up by 0.33%; the price of neodymium-iron-boron scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) increased by RMB 25/kg, up by 3.45%.
In terms of news, data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in March 2026, the national producer price index (PPI) turned from a year-on-year decrease of 0.9% in the previous month to an increase of 0.5%; the purchase price index of industrial producers turned from a year-on-year decrease of 0.7% in the previous month to an increase of 0.8%. Among them, in the industrial producer price index, the prices of mining industry increased by 2.0%, raw material industries increased by 1.1%, and processing industries increased by 0.9%; in the industrial purchase price index, prices of building materials and non-metallic products decreased by 4.4%, fuel and power materials decreased by 3.8%, prices of ferrous metals decreased by 2.3%, chemical raw materials decreased by 2.2%, and prices of non-ferrous metals and electrical wires increased by 22.3%.
