Rare earth market update on April 8, 2026
The domestic rare earth market has shown a slight improvement, mainly reflected in the continued rise in the prices of most products and the increased market activity of traders. Today, the price of praseodymium oxide increased by RMB 10,000 per ton, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide increased by RMB 15,000 per ton, and the price of gadolinium oxide increased by RMB 5,000 per ton.
In the light rare earth market, the overall pattern is one of "prices with no market," with strong support from production costs and limited increase in spot supply. As a result, mainstream suppliers have significantly raised their prices. However, due to the tight capital situation of downstream production enterprises and strong hesitation to buy at high prices, market transactions remain limited.
In the medium and heavy rare earth market, the overall market remains weak and stable. The prices of dysprosium and terbium series products have not changed significantly, while the prices of gadolinium and holmium have increased due to the positive trend in the light rare earth market. Currently, the prices of terbium oxide and dysprosium oxide are approximately RMB 6,100,000 per ton and RMB 1,380,000 per ton, respectively.
In terms of news, from January 1 to March 25, 2026, China's high-tech industry sales revenue increased by 14.6% year-on-year. Among them, the sales revenue of high-tech manufacturing and high-tech services increased by 12.7% and 15.8%, respectively, year-on-year. Driven by demand in artificial intelligence, computing power centers, and other areas, the sales revenue of integrated circuit design and integrated circuit manufacturing increased by 48.9% and 40.7%, respectively, year-on-year.
