Rare earth market update on April 3, 2026
This week, the price trends of major domestic light and heavy rare earth products showed slight differences: the price of praseodymium-neodymium (PrNd) first decreased and then increased, while the prices of dysprosium-terbium (DyTb) first decreased and then stabilized. At the beginning of the week, the market sentiment of "buying on the rise, not on the decline" and weak support from favorable factors led to a rational reduction in supplier quotes; as the weekend approached, with downstream users' increased enthusiasm for buying on price dips and stronger cost support, PrNd suppliers tentatively raised their prices. However, due to limited demand growth, the rebound was small.
According to statistics from CTIA GROUP LTD, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide increased by RMB 18,000/ton, up by 2.54%; the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal increased by RMB 5,000/ton, up by 0.56%; the price of terbium oxide remained stable with no significant change; the price of dysprosium oxide decreased by RMB 50,000/ton, down by 3.60%; the price of 55N neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) billets increased by RMB 1/kg, up by 0.33%; and the price of praseodymium-neodymium scrap (NdFeB) increased by RMB 15/kg, up by 2.11%.
According to CCTV News, in January-February 2026, the value-added of five major industries related to the machinery industry showed a consistent growth trend compared to the same period last year. Among them, the general equipment manufacturing industry grew by 8.9%, the special equipment manufacturing industry grew by 8.8%, the automobile manufacturing industry grew by 3.4%, the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry grew by 8.7%, and the instrument and meter manufacturing industry grew by 7.8%. In the first two months of this year, the equipment manufacturing industry performed well, with a value-added growth of 9.3%, which was 3.0 percentage points faster than the overall value-added growth of large-scale industrial enterprises.
