Rare earth market update on March 27, 2026
This week, the domestic rare earth prices showed an overall trend of rising at the beginning of the week, followed by a decline. At the start of the week, many suppliers raised their quotes tentatively due to the significant price drop in the previous two weeks, an increase in the willingness of downstream users to procure at lower prices, and the rising oil and gas prices, in order to avoid the risk of cost-profit imbalance. As the weekend approached, due to the lower-than-expected demand from magnetic material enterprises and other buyers, holders of stocks adjusted their quotes downward in a more rational manner.
According to statistics from CTIA GROUP LTD, the price of praseodymium neodymium oxide increased by RMB 100,000 per ton, a rise of 1.43%; the price of praseodymium neodymium metal decreased by RMB 20,000 per ton, a decline of 2.20%; the price of terbium oxide remained relatively stable; the price of dysprosium oxide increased by RMB 10,000 per ton, a rise of 0.72%; the price of 55N neodymium iron boron blanks remained stable; the price of neodymium iron boron waste (praseodymium neodymium) decreased by RMB 10 per kilogram, a decline of 1.39%.
According to statistics from Baotou's WeChat news, in January and February 2026, the industrial added value above designated size in Baotou City increased by 5.3% year-on-year. Among them, the added value of the mining industry and manufacturing industry increased by 20.2% and 4.5%, respectively, while the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, and water decreased by 1.4%. Among the 34 industry categories, 19 industries saw an increase in added value, accounting for 56% of the total. Among them, the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry saw a growth of 97.4%, driving the industrial added value above designated size to increase by 6.1 percentage points. The rare earth industry played a leading role. The added value of the rare earth industry increased by 43.4% year-on-year, an increase of 35.4 percentage points compared to the same period last year, contributing to a 5.4 percentage point increase in the industrial added value above designated size.
