CTIA GROUP LTD has compiled the customs data published by the General Administration of Customs on China's molybdenum product imports and exports as follows:
In January 2026, China’s molybdenum product imports amounted to 7,726.45 tons, a month-on-month decrease of approximately 25.34%, but an increase of 6.30% year-on-year. The import value was RMB 1.293 billion, a month-on-month decrease of approximately 30.03%, and a year-on-year increase of 24.56%.
Among these, in January, China imported 2,051.62 tons of roasted molybdenum ore and concentrates, an increase of 489.75% year-on-year; 4,657.36 tons of other molybdenum ore and concentrates, a decrease of 14.70% year-on-year; 150.56 tons of molybdenum oxides and hydroxides, an increase of 73.78% year-on-year; 340.01 tons of ammonium molybdate, an increase of 125.92% year-on-year; 218.66 tons of other molybdate salts, an increase of 7.61% year-on-year; 287.00 tons of ferro-molybdenum, a decrease of 71.48% year-on-year; 36.00 kilograms of molybdenum powder, a decrease of 86.15% year-on-year; 16.17 tons of molybdenum bars, rods, profiles, and special-shaped materials, plates, sheets, strips, and foils, an increase of 58.35% year-on-year; 4.05 tons of molybdenum wire, an increase of 241.98% year-on-year; and 1.00 ton of other molybdenum products, a decrease of 58.08% year-on-year.
In January 2026, China’s molybdenum product exports amounted to 2,269.39 tons, a month-on-month increase of 14.94%, but a year-on-year decrease of 35.75%. The export value was RMB 570 million, a month-on-month increase of 6.69%, but a year-on-year decrease of 24.77%.
Among these, in January, China exported 1,016.91 tons of roasted molybdenum ore and concentrates, a decrease of 5.19% year-on-year; 214.00 tons of other molybdenum ore and concentrates, a decrease of 69.67% year-on-year; 102.93 tons of molybdenum oxides and hydroxides, a decrease of 43.14% year-on-year; 2.93 tons of ammonium molybdate, a decrease of 87.04% year-on-year; 19.46 tons of other molybdate salts, an increase of 1.97% year-on-year; 601.50 tons of ferro-molybdenum, a decrease of 38.30% year-on-year; 8.40 tons of molybdenum powder, an increase of 27.06% year-on-year; 146.04 tons of unrefined molybdenum, including simple sintered bars and rods, a decrease of 30.09% year-on-year; 26.11 tons of molybdenum bars, rods, profiles, and special-shaped materials, plates, sheets, strips, and foils, a decrease of 84.56% year-on-year; 25.13 tons of molybdenum wire, an increase of 15.57% year-on-year; 50.53 tons of molybdenum scrap and waste, a decrease of 78.13% year-on-year; and 55.46 tons of other molybdenum products, an increase of 263.10% year-on-year.
