Rare earth market update on March 19, 2026
Domestic rare earth prices continue to show a downward trend overall, though the decline has narrowed compared to yesterday. The price of praseodymium and neodymium oxide has dropped by around RMB 10,000 per ton, terbium oxide by about RMB 20,000 per ton, and dysprosium oxide by approximately RMB 30,000 per ton. This is mainly due to lower-than-expected downstream demand, coupled with a clear "wait-and-see" attitude in the market, which has affected suppliers' confidence in maintaining price stability. However, it is worth noting that, as a result of the significant recent price drop, downstream users have become more active in purchasing on the dips, and with cost support, the bargaining space for products has further narrowed.
According to CCTV News, recently, the National Development and Reform Commission launched a new batch of 13 landmark major foreign investment projects, with a planned investment of 13.4 billion USD. The newly selected projects are mainly concentrated in the manufacturing sector, including electronics manufacturing, chemicals, automotive, and electrical machinery, promoting the accelerated development of industrial clusters. At the same time, efforts to support the service industry have been strengthened, with logistics projects being included in the list for the first time. Support continues for R&D center projects in fields such as biomedicine, promoting deep integration between modern services and advanced manufacturing industries. To date, the landmark major foreign investment projects have cumulatively completed investments totaling 108 billion USD, demonstrating significant effects in attracting investment and driving economic growth.
