Rare earth market update on March 10, 2026
The domestic rare earth market remains weak overall, with most product prices decreasing slightly. The sentiment of traders is cautious, with few new orders being placed. Today, the prices of neodymium oxide, praseodymium-neodymium oxide, and gadolinium oxide decreased by approximately RMB 5,000/ton, RMB 2,000/ton, and RMB 3,000/ton, respectively.
In the light rare earth market, the atmosphere for buying and selling is rather flat. End users are less active in placing orders, and the lack of positive support has weakened, causing the main suppliers to lack confidence in maintaining prices. However, from a long-term perspective, most industry players still have relatively high expectations for future market trends. In the medium and heavy rare earth market, overall conditions remain weak and stable. On one hand, downstream demand is limited, and purchasing efforts are insufficient; on the other hand, suppliers are reluctant to reduce prices, and most are adopting a wait-and-see attitude.
In terms of news, data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in February 2026, the national industrial producer price increased by 0.4% month-on-month, the same as last month. Among them, mining industry prices increased by 1.2%, raw material industry prices increased by 0.2%, and processing industry prices increased by 0.6%. The industrial producer purchase price increased by 0.7% month-on-month, with the growth rate expanding by 0.2 percentage points compared to last month. Among these, prices for non-ferrous metal materials and wires increased by 4.8%, chemical raw materials increased by 1.0%, building materials and non-metallic products increased by 0.1%, fuel power materials decreased by 1.2%, and ferrous metal materials decreased by 0.2%.
