Rare earth market update on June 29, 2026
On Monday, the overall domestic rare earth market remained generally stable. With traders showing weak willingness to enter the market for transactions, product prices fluctuated within a reasonable range, and new orders were limited. Today, the prices of neodymium oxide, erbium oxide and dysprosium iron alloy were about RMB 800,000/ton, RMB 475,000/ton and RMB 1,380,000/ton, respectively. In the light rare earth market, the fluctuating increase in praseodymium-neodymium prices last week, together with the unchanged price-cutting sentiment among magnetic material enterprises, restricted suppliers' room to raise quotations to a certain extent. In the medium and heavy rare earth market, limited growth in downstream demand resulted in insufficient momentum for holders to raise quotations. However, supported by the tight spot supply in the market and the promising development prospects of the downstream rare earth industry, the decline in product prices was also relatively limited.
According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to May 2026, industrial enterprises above the designated size nationwide achieved a total profit of RMB 3,143.96 billion, increased by 18.8% year-on-year. Among them, profits of the non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry increased by 117.1% year-on-year, the computer, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry increased by 103.9%, the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry increased by 71.6%, the general equipment manufacturing industry decreased by 0.2%, the electricity and heat production and supply industry decreased by 4.1%, the special equipment manufacturing industry decreased by 5.5%, the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry decreased by 13.7%, the automobile manufacturing industry decreased by 19.8%, the ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry decreased by 37.4%, and the non-metallic mineral products industry decreased by 48.9%.
